How Has Our Country Gone so Wrong?

MonkeysIn our times many people are coming to greater awareness and understanding that there are serious evil forces at work in the world. This information is hard to comprehend in light of the vast history of mankind and the “civilized” cultures that we have come to accept as the norm. Yet, evidence continues to build that there are powerful individuals who seemingly perpetuate significant harm, illness and death on others for their personal gain. How can this be? This is my imperfect attempt to help understand the evil that seems to be growing all around us. It is based on my repeated reading of the Bible and seeking to understand the whole of God’s work in history.

I’ve been practicing a discipline of once a week fasting for 24 hours to pray and focus on these hopes and aspirations:

  • Seek Truth through God’s word, the Bible
  • Discern how to apply God’s word to my life
  • Effectively share God’s word with others

So I can KNOW God, repent of my sin and experience the full joy of salvation, encouraging others to do the same.

Reading Romans 1 brings to mind the many relevant comparisons applicable to our world today. This passage of Scripture, written by Paul to a group of people living in Rome, describes the depravity man can descend to when they ignore God and leave Him out of their life equation.

Since the domination of Charles Darwin’s book, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life, the theory of evolution has gained a strong foothold in nearly every area of science and medicine. The theory of evolution underpins the training and thinking of most scientists and medical professionals in a technical system that denies God’s design and creative authorship. How has this caused deception and confusion that extends even among God’s own people?

cosmosLike the people Paul was describing:

They know the truth about God because He has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

God can be known when we seek to discover Him through all He has made.

Yes, they knew God. But they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give thanks to God. They began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like.

Like people today. We don’t want to acknowledge God, because that might impact our life choices. So we deny Him, because we don’t want to worship Him.

As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshipping the glorious, ever-living God. They worshipped idols made to look like mere people.

The people Paul referred to worshiped idols in the form of statues and images. Today we consider ourselves too civilized for that kind of thing. However, I think if we open our eyes we can see how people today also worship many things other than God. We may worship modern medicine, specific procedures, like vaccines, technology, gadgets, education, status, etc. When we worship, we show adoration or devotion toward a person or principle. There is a lot of false worship going on today. There are so many ways in which we worship the technologies we have developed with our own hands, or worship our  own ideas and our own intelligence.

When we develop our own sources to worship, we declare we do not need God. Today doctors and scientists feel they have defeated disease through their wonderful vaccines. They have now abandoned a sensible approach to healing in deference to their wonder drugs. They have stopped seeking real science and believe the lies they have had repeated over and over. The drug and vaccine culture have also had the power to make many people very wealthy. Over the years many of these drug companies have accumulated massive profits. Buying stock in these companies has often been a good investment. Do these companies follow ethical practices and seek truth? Do you, as a Christians investor even care?

So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. The men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling  deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning and they disobey their parents.

There are many signs all around us of an abundance of evil. We see evidence of a corrupt government, corrupt science, dangerous medical practices pushed on unsuspecting public in the name of profit, unprecedented levels of murdering of unborn children, unjust wars, human trafficking and killing innocent women and children, and sexual perversion of all kinds. We see government agencies like the NSA, CIA, FBI, DHS, CPS amassing power that causes the average citizen to tremble. We see injustice all around us and don’t know who to believe any more.

God is looking for individuals to give up their idols, repent and seek Him. He wants a relationship with individuals. His judgment will come, but those who seek salvation through Jesus Christ will be saved.

There is an explanation for the evil around us. It has occurred because people have forsaken God and He has abandoned them to their own wicked desires. He offers salvation through Jesus to all who will humble themselves and turn from their wicked selfish desires. The level of evil and suffering is bound to increase. The Bible has a lot to say about the future. In these crazy evil times, the most important, protective thing any person can do, is seek Jesus.

For I have a great sense of obligation to people in both the civilized world and the rest of the world, to the educated and uneducated alike…

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes… This Good News tells us HOW God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

If I am successful in sharing information that gives light in matters of health, but ignore these essential truths, what have I gained? The most important information anyone needs is a knowledge of God leading to faith. Knowing God and accepting Jesus Christ, “in whom is hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 1) is the foundation that leads to all truth. He gives light in every single subject when you seek Him.

Vaccines & DNA

My heart is heavy as I write this. I do not claim to have all the answers. I know there are better ways to express this information, and I’m sure many of the facts could be refined to be more precisely accurate. However, the foundation of these facts is undisputed. I’d love ideas for how to better express them.

DNAIs our current schedule of vaccines containing animal DNA and residual virus particles a risk for our very survival?

Vaccines are known to contain foreign cell proteins in a variety of forms from aborted human fetal cell fragments to monkeys, pigs, dogs[1], insects[2], guinea pigs, cows, chicks, eagles and more. Every vaccine can contain a variety of these foreign proteins, DNA fragments and accompanying viruses known to infect these animals.[3]

Animals and animal cells have been used in creating vaccines from the earliest efforts to “protect” the population from infectious disease. There have always been residual amounts of these cells that are being injected intramuscularly into the body with every vaccine given.

What impact does injecting foreign proteins, DNA and virus have?

Close contact with animals has been known to cause transfer of viruses specific to animal populations to humans.[4] One concern (and there are many others) is that injecting these foreign animal cells, known to be vehicles for retroviruses particular to those animals, has a much broader impact on human health than has been recognized. Simian virus 40 (SV40) is a commonly known retro virus from monkey kidney cells. The n

Most people by now have probably heard of SV40 which came from rhesus monkeys that were used to grow the polio virus cells in the late 1950s in the process of vaccine manufacture. The CDC admitted that polio vaccines given in the early 1960s were contaminated with this virus and the impact is becoming more apparent as the millions of people injected is aging and experiencing specific cancers associated with SV40. Lab analysis of brain and other tumors confirms the presence of SV40.[6]

SV40 has also been found in the tumors of children with cancer today, although the vaccine has not been used for 40 years or so. How is this possible?

Either there is still residual SV40 in current vaccines, or these viruses have changed the human genome and have been passed from their mothers.

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is now a serious risk for infection for babies. It is actually, Simian Coryza Virus, a virus common to monkeys which was renamed. It is a new viral risk for human children, unknown previously.

Is the animal DNA we have injected into our bodies, and that is being injected into our babies, negatively impacting our optimal health?

Keep in mind it has taken 50 years for scientists working in this field to realize (or admit) that these viruses are here and that they are causing sickness and cancer now. How long will it take to realize that the current contaminated vaccines have infected the human race?

There are many important questions raised, yet it is so taboo to ask questions regarding the vaccines recommended by the CDC that all scientific discourse is shut down. Has our vaccine program become the sacred cow? Are scientists, medical professionals and thinkers confined to staying in one paradigm in understanding this topic?

Can we release our infatuation with the idea of vaccines long enough to examine the true evidence and follow the science until we find answers to these important questions? Have we been ensnared by a lie?

However difficult, we need to have these discussions, especially in the Christian community.

The Shocking Truth about aborted human fetal cells in vaccines

Aborted Fetal Cells

Vaccines have been hailed as ‘one of the modern wonders of the world.’ Many staunch pro-life supporters do not realize that the vaccines they have grown up thinking normal and essential for health and well-being, have a darker side. I am writing this primarily for my Christian friends to explain my views on this controversial topic.

Aborted baby for vaccinesMany vaccines are derived using cell lines which were established by using aborted human fetal tissue a.k.a. human diploid cells (HDC). These cells were intentionally harvested from abortions in order to do scientific research. It was not a matter of randomly collecting the “wastes”. There was a scientist alerted and on standby to collect and properly  preserve the human embryo extracted from its mother. The scientific journal, Nature, explains the history and gives a detailed inside look into the background of this less known side of science.[1]

As a Christian I am strongly opposed to any product which relies on an abortion. Other Christian authors have come to opposing conclusions. One particularly well-known author is not satisfied with having a different conclusion than I do, he also attacks Christians like me who disagree with him as being naive and promoting bald face lies, of a particularly evil nature. I am confident that I am not naive, am not repeating lies and I have no evil agenda. My sole aim is to help parents understand the science behind our amazing immune system – a system that was perfectly designed by our Creator. If someone has a different view, and even if they claim to be a Christian, that is fine for them. We will all answer to God for the choices we make and the influence we exert in the world.

Swedish abortionsIt has been stated that there was only one abortion involved, so people like me are promoting lies. For the WI-38 cell line there were 38 abortions performed before the cell line was successfully cultured – thus the number, ’38’. {edit: while the number 38 may not indicate 38 abortions, from Hayflick’s paper we know at least 20 abortions were performed[8].} Other cell lines derived from aborted human fetal tissue are MRC-5, HEK-293, RA27/3 (’27/3′ refers to the 27th abortion, 3rd attempt before the cell line grew). This tissue has been used in developing vaccines for chickenpox, Hepatitis A, MMR, MR, Rubella, Polio, Shingles and Smallpox (Acambis 1000) which are currently in use today and injected into babies and children (and now more frequently recommended for adults).[2]

Is there an impact on health?

Another very profoundly disturbing aspect of using human fetal cells to culture viruses which are injected into human babies has to do with the DNA fragments. The aforementioned Christian author insists that there is no DNA contained in the vaccines, but the FDA has a legal limit for the amount of DNA, which is routinely exceeded.

In 1986: WHO established a DNA limit for vaccines manufactured in cell lines at ≤ 100 pg per dose. At the very least, that means since 1986 there has been an ‘acceptable limit’ and an acknowledgement that DNA fragments are injected into babies.[3]

But what is the impact of the human DNA when injected into babies? and others?

The implication and health impact of injecting foreign DNA (including DNA from other animals, which is also used in vaccine production) is not completely understood and those wishing to explore the science are often discouraged from doing so.[4] DNA cells present in vaccines has been debated for over 40 years and those promoting vaccines claim the amounts to be “in such infinitesimal amounts” that they are GRAS (generally regarded as safe) yet they resist further study.[5] At the very least there should be more urgent honest investigation. In the meantime all children are victims of this experiment.

I find it incomprehensible that any Christian organization would encourage parents to knowingly put their children at risk of great harm based on a tightly controlled system of lies, spin and marketing.

I find it perplexing how many peer-reviewed scientific publications, old and recent, clearly indicate the multiple dangers that are associated with vaccines yet the public is often bombarded and heavily marketed with how safe vaccines are.

Just as there is data suggesting vaccines are safe, there is also data suggesting that they aren’t. This is why it’s so important to do your own research, and not just accept what you are told blindly without investigation.[6]

Paul warned us in 2 Thessalonians 2 that there are evil forces on earth which are secretly at work. Could the pharmaceutical industry be a key player in the deceptive tactics Jesus, Paul, Peter and John all warned us about?[7]

Baby funny croppedOur babies are precious. We have been given the task as parents to protect them from harm. We have an enemy in this world who is seeking to steel, kill and devour (John 10:10). Jesus wants to give us life and protect us from evil. I urge all parents to diligently do the research necessary for themselves. You need to know which shot your doctor is recommending. You need to evaluate the full risk of the shot compared to the risk of the illness with appropriate treatment.

As far as the argument pushing parents to get the shot for the good of the community or of immuno compromised individuals – The best gift you can give to yourself or your community is a healthy child with a well-functioning immune system. Vaccines fail miserably in both safety and efficacy. Children who receive vaccines are probably a greater risk to the community. A healthy non vaccinated child poses no risk.

You need to study this topic BEFORE you agree to any vaccine, particularly in pregnancy and for newborns. Give more time to this decision than your choice of car seat, cell phone, or anything else. It is critically important.

Parents need to demonstrate discernment and seek truth. Acting out of fear, inspired through the media and marketing, is contrary to what Jesus called us to. There are  many peer-reviewed scientific publications, and many professionals speaking out on the unanswered questions regarding vaccine safety. There are known dangers  associated with vaccines, with a separate court system set up to provide compensation for victims of vaccine injury, yet the public is often bombarded with scary stories and marketing materials claiming how safe vaccines are.

Don’t take my word for it. Begin exploring the science behind vaccines. I am absolutely confident that Jesus Christ, the source of all wisdom and knowledge, can lead you to truth. I pray daily for the Christian community to wake up to the deception that is trying to engulf us and take us captive with serious physical consequences for ourselves, our children and our future. God needs us all to be awake, aware and ready for the soon return of Jesus our Lord.

A Spiritual Battle Rages

chess winAre those who have power in our society seeking our best interests? Are they passing just laws and seeking our protection? Can we trust that the political and societal leadership has our best interests at heart?

Jesus warned his followers, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.” Mark 8:15

The Pharisees were responsible for law and order in their community. Herod was the official political ruler, but he engaged the Pharisees to help in controlling the people, keeping order, and settling disputes. They were living under Roman rule and were required to pay taxes and submit to Caesar’s laws and decrees. It was a difficult life for the common people, but the Pharisees were an elite group with wealth and privilege.

What was the “yeast” Jesus spoke about?

Jesus didn’t explain so we must interpret and figure it out ourselves! What do we know the Pharisees and Herod were guilty of through our understanding of other passages of Scripture?

  1. Personal characteristics. Pride. Self-importance. Close mindedness. Protecting their authority. Know-it-all attitude. They had a position in society and they wanted to keep it. They carried out their role of serving the people only so far as it served them and furthered their role in the community.

Sound like any politicians today? Sound like any significant members of society and business?

  1. Powerful Ideas. The Pharisees were in charge of perpetuating teaching that would impact everyone. They had the power to hold hearts captive with their ideas.

Jesus was saying that there is a spiritual battle and there is far more to fear than the physical realities they were facing. The reality was that the Pharisees and Herod were actually acting as Satan’s agents on earth, cooperating with his plans and purposes. It was Satan’s plan to kill Jesus, thinking that would be the end of His influence and power. He used the religious leaders as his agents. They were able to infiltrate the hearts of the people at the time of Jesus’ trial before Pilate, the Roman Governor, so that the people demanded for Jesus’ crucifixion even though Pilate was hoping to release Jesus.

Jesus rebukes and chastises His disciples with strong words:

“Why are you arguing about having no bread?”

“Don’t you know or understand?”

“Are your hearts too hard to take in [truth]”

“You have eyes – can’t you see?”

“You have ears – can’t you hear?”

“Don’t you remember anything at all?”

After reminding them of the two miraculous picnics,

“Don’t you understand yet?”

Do you think He might have equally strong words for His followers today?

You might call me crazy, but I believe all people fall somewhere into these broad categories:

  1. People who discern the spiritual realities and forces at work in the world around us and wholeheartedly follow Jesus and seek His answers.
  2. People who discern many of the truths of what is happening in the world but want to leave Jesus out of their lives and their understanding.
  3. People who claim to follow Jesus but are mostly vague about any of the spiritual battles waging around them. They seek the blessings Christ has to offer but don’t want to acknowledge anything that would shake their comfortable reality.
  4. People who have no idea of current realities and no understanding of Jesus’ power and purposes on earth.
  5. People, like the Pharisees and Herod, who are actively involved in promoting an evil agenda on the masses, knowingly or unknowingly, cooperating with Satan’s plans.

BreadJesus repeatedly showed His disciples and followers that His power transcended physical realities. He could produce food out of nothing, give sight to the blind, make the deaf to hear, give speech to those who could not speak, and even raise the dead to life.

Yet his disciples were arguing about bread. How often is our focus on our physical realities and our physical needs rather than on God’s purposes and advancement of His kingdom on earth? What might Jesus say to us today?

Are we heeding His warning to “Watch out and beware”? Paul reminds us that our battle is a spiritual battle and the weapons we need are spiritual protection (Ephesians 6). The reality is that there are currently dark evil spiritual forces influencing nearly every aspect of our society. Just as Satan hijacked the religious and political systems at the time of Jesus, he continues to be at work to thwart the purposes of God today. The religious system designed by God to bring people to knowledge, worship and relationship with Himself became the very vehicle for putting Jesus to death. Our own political system has been hijacked for evil purposes. Satan is busy trying to foil God’s redemptive plan in the world. The biggest issue Christ followers face today is not so much the physical realities and dangers we face – although those are often very real – the real issue is the battle for hearts and souls.

When Peter reprimanded Jesus for predicting his suffering, arrest and death, Jesus strongly rebukes him:

“Get behind me Satan. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

How about us? Do we see our current world and personal reality simply from our own point of view, or do we see it from God’s? It’s not really popular to remind people of the reality of God’s work in the world. Some don’t want to hear about a future judgment. Many don’t want to acknowledge the evil rampant even in the “good” systems in our world.

It is far more comfortable to interpret the world, or at least our country, as a kind and gentle place; believe that those who make laws are just; believe that everything we see on the news is true; think that all modern scientific discoveries are for our benefit; think that all medicine is good for us and all doctors want us to be healthy; believe that all history showing our country as the good guy is true; think that all wars we’ve been involved in have been for the righteous protection of the disadvantaged; to believe the public school system is not so bad.

What we believe. What we think. That is the yeast. That is what Jesus warned us about. Where do we get our ideas? What influences our thinking?

“You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

We need God’s point of view to reign supreme in every area of our life. Does God have guidance to give me? How can I be sure I allow Him to influence my thinking and overcome the powerful yeast prevalent in our world today?

Mark 8 ends with Jesus explaining the very high cost of following Him:

Then, calling the crowd to join His disciples, He said:

“If any of you wants to be my follower you must

turn from your selfish ways

take up your cross and

follow Me.

If you try to hang on to your life you will lose it.

But if you give up your life for my sake and the sake of the Good News you will save it.

And what can you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?

Is anything worth more than your soul?

If anyone is ashamed of Me and My message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when He returns in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.

Truth Shall Make You FreeJesus came to set us free. Satan seeks to keep us in bondage. Following Jesus means we need to “Watch out and Beware.” The Pharisees did not look like “the bad guys.” They were respectable. They held prominent positions. They were wealthy and important; celebrities of their day.

I choose to seek Jesus wholeheartedly, He wants to save and preserve life for today and eternity. The nature of deception is that you do not know you are being deceived. We are all deceived to some extent. We need to continuously seek the truth in every area of life. We are in a spiritual battle. A battle to influence our heart and mind.

“Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2:25-26

Don’t Accept Sickness

so cute!How do we stay healthy in our sin sick world?

Christians understand the cause of sin in the world. What we don’t often connect is the role of sickness. It seems every day I hear about some Christian who is sick, or their kids are sick, so they can’t attend something or they are asking for prayer. Everyone knows someone recently diagnosed with a life-threatening condition like cancer, diabetes, etc. And we commonly hear people describing everything from ulcers to rare and serious auto-immune disorders.

I would like to boldly propose that sickness does not have to be your normal experience. We will all die one day – we know that. But we don’t have to live out our life in sickness until that day comes. We don’t have to expect a complete decline of health as part and parcel of the aging process. While there may be a few things outside of our ability to control, like our parents and where and how we spent our childhood, there are many ways we influence our health, or lack of it, every day.

God wants His people to be robustly strong and healthy. We are fighting a spiritual battle and we need to be armed, strong and ready. Our enemy is real and is trying to deceive us in every sphere of life.

As Christians we need to keep in mind two principles which provide the means to conquer sickness.

Firstly, we need to understand the power of the resurrected Jesus Christ to heal our bodies. Many Christians today have trouble believing in Jesus’ healing power for today and will give many explanations on why we don’t see healing happening around us. I choose to believe in the power of God vibrantly alive and well today just as it was when Jesus walked on earth and when the early disciples travelled around sharing the news of Jesus’ resurrection and the hope of eternal life accompanied by the power to heal the sick. Today, Jesus uses many means to bring healing, light and life in the midst of our dark world.

Secondly, we need common sense. If we see animals drinking from a dirty water hole and we know it is being fed from a toxic source up-stream, then we notice the same animals getting sick, we conclude the water is causing the problem and we figure out a way to give the animals better water and prevent the animals from drinking the polluted water.

Cows waterOur country, and world, is filled with sick people, who continue to drink from polluted water and wonder why there is so much sickness and disease among them. This is true in the most wealthy populations as well as among the poor – it crosses all socio-economic classifications.

We are doing something wrong. The source of our food, water and medical treatment is making us sick.

My heart is grieved every time I hear about a new diagnosis of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis or other chronic debilitating condition. It is especially troubling to hear of these illnesses in children. So many Christians think a yearly bout with flu is normal, aging brings dementia and ill-health, and having several colds or ‘tummy bugs’  per year is normal. Basically, we are all just victims in this sin sick world.

Not true. I believe our life-style, habits, and our go-to medical care choices are causing our illness. It is not our portion to be sick. We are choosing sickness when we ignore God’s natural laws and pollute our body with toxic food, water and drugs. When we get symptoms, we pollute our body even more with more drugs or over-the-counter medications because we want a simple quick fix. We don’t want to have to change anything or do a serious analysis and assessment of the polluted water we are daily drinking from. We want to continue everything we’ve always done – we don’t want to change water holes. It is too much work; too much trouble.

I want to encourage you that it doesn’t have to be that hard, and that the wellness that results is MORE than worth any effort it may take to choose the ‘clean water source’ and shut down the ‘toxic watering hole.’

Pray for wisdom. Your heavenly Father knows exactly what you need and He desires for you to take some time to seek His answers. He can guide you to sources of wisdom as you begin to apply common sense.

Many wise people have been on the road before you. They are eager to share the natural ways God has used to cure them from many serious illnesses.

Don’t settle for the sickness system. Don’t reach for the quick fix or take the course chosen by other sick people.

Begin a journey to a healthier future. It is never too late to stop drinking from the poisoned watering hole. You will feel much better when you seek the life-giving water Jesus guides you to.

What’s a Parent with a Teenager to Do?

Parenting teens can be challenging. There are no rules, no easy answers. Most of us figure it out as we go. Books and information can be helpful, but mostly we need God’s wisdom to mature us, so we can be the mature parent our teen needs.

All Glory to GodSo what do you say when your teenager storms out of the kitchen after a frantic look into a limited selection of food, saying “There’s nothing for me to eat in this house. If there are no bananas, you know I can’t have breakfast.”

Most of us moms, as the procurement officers in the household, would take that as a personal attack, assault, and an extremely rude, definitely ‘correctable’ behavior.

As a parent I need to be very aware of my own feelings. Am I seeking to defend myself? Do I take the teen’s assaulting words personally as a punch to the gut? Do I immediately want to ‘put them in their place’ and let them know I will NOT tolerate that sort of outburst? Do I fly into a tailspin trying to prepare something for their breakfast in order to ‘make them happy’? Do I allow their strong emotions to control me?

Teenagers, by no fault of their own, are immature. They are developing. They are learning. It is important as parents to recognize that they are a work in progress and reflect on our desired outcome. What is my hope and dream for this teen?

Having my overarching goal in mind will help me respond wisely in the moment.

My overarching goal is that my teen will grow in maturity and develop self-control which comes from a heart which puts Jesus first. Of course, I expect that along the way to learning socially acceptable methods of communication, they will fail. What do I do with the failure?

If I berate them for their failure I am preventing them from learning and understanding. If I punish them for their immaturity I may alienate them from me and push them towards exasperation and rejecting all the values I hold dear. As a child of God I am urged to treat others in the way that I would like to be treated – to love them as I love myself. My teen is, after all, part of the group Jesus called “my neighbor.”

So what’s a mom to do?

I’m not sure this is a prescription for everyone, but this is what I did. I just went on with my task and allowed the teen to have that moment of ‘tantrum’ without it piercing my heart in any way. I chose not to respond. I chose not to be angry or offended. I knew there were a few foods that could be eaten – albeit the selection was extremely limited – but I didn’t accept any guilt. Sometimes life just doesn’t serve us what we desire, and I knew this is a lesson we all need to learn. I’m sure it is a lesson I haven’t fully perfected.

So what happened?

The teen finished preparing for school, returned to the kitchen and quickly fixed something to take for a breakfast on the run. I asked the teen to please keep my negligence in not having food for breakfast quiet as I didn’t want anyone at school reporting me to CPS. I got a smile. All was well.

Handling Pro Vaccine Pressure

Conflict stick figuresNo doubt, making medical decisions is one of the most important things we can do as new parents. AND we are often bombarded by advice.

Advice from total strangers, advice from mainstream media, advice from friends, advice from medical professionals whom we want to trust, etc. Probably the most challenging advice to deal with is the advice that keeps getting repeated to us from those we are sure LOVE and care for our children as much as we do: our family. Our family can try many different tactics to “help us understand the danger we are exposing our child to by refusing vaccines.” They truly think we have been influenced by crazy people and are on the verge of becoming crazy ourselves.

The thing is, they CARE. They truly wish no harm to come to our children. They are fully confident that all the information coming from the CDC and our really really nice doctor, is 100% reliable. They believe that vaccines are safe and effective and if we would just give them to our babies, we will all live happily ever after.

You might have done your research when pregnant. You’ve spent hours combing the science and the opinions about vaccines. You feel strong and confident in your decision to avoid or delay vaccines most of the time, but other times the pressure from family starts to get to you. You begin to questions yourself. How could sooooo many people be wrong? How could my own family be wrong?

Before you completely cave in to the pressure from family who are saying things like ‘We all vaccinated and we don’t have any problems’ or ‘Why do you want your baby to die from a disease that could have been avoided?’, etc, please at least do a couple of things:

1. Build your own confidence in your own thinking skills:

“The Professor” is particularly brilliant and has an understanding of science far beyond mine. She also has experience working in a scientific field and unfortunately, due to her child’s vaccine injury she has been forced to become an expert on all aspects of vaccine science. She has some great insight into why there is so much debate and why scientists disagree so strongly on the topic.

Moral of the story? There are lots of ways you can dampen a strong signal if that’s what you’re trying to do. And if you read the available “vaccine science,” you will get a crash course in them. When analyzing the science, you need to ask yourself the all-important question, “Is this study designed in the best possible way to reveal a ‘signal’ if there is one?” And if not, why not? Often you will find when it comes to “vaccine science,” like its correlate “tobacco science,” that not only is the answer to the first question no, the study has actually been designed in the worst possible way to reveal a ‘signal.” Why are these studies so badly designed? Can it be that no one at the CDC understands science or even logic? Hardly. The real answer is painfully obvious: a study designed in the worst possible way to reveal a signal, is often the one designed the best possible way to hide one.
  • Continue looking for valid scientific support for your decision to boost your confidence. Read vaccine inserts and look for true scientific sources. Dr Sheri Tenpenny has many great videos which provide detailed information from CDC and all published scientific literature. She is a trained and experienced medical doctor and has personally devoted over 18,000 hours to understanding the subject of vaccines.
    • Are Vaccines Really Safe? A 5 minute video for a quick overview of some very important questions regarding the safety of vaccines for newborns. She also touches on routine Vitamin K shots and Hepatitis B shots for infants in the first hours of life.
    • Vaccine Safety. A 15 minute video which takes a quick look at the issue of vaccine safety. What does it actually mean when a vaccine is said to be “safe and effective”?
    • The Risks, the Benefits, the Choices. A nearly 3 hour video in which Dr Tenpenny focuses on the individual vaccines and the illnesses for which they are purported to protect, using conventional medical journals. This is a comprehensive overview guiding you step by step through vaccination history, conflicts of interest and the lack of scientific data to support the current vaccine protocol. Dr. Tenpenny clearly communicates detailed science in a way parents can understand.
    • Vaccines, What the CDC Documents and Science Reveal by Dr Sherri Tenpenny 2003 part 1 of 2). This 1 Hour video published to YouTube on 14 May 2013 is an essential presentation for all those looking for scientific evidence to support their investigation into vaccine questions. Dr Tenpenny is very familiar with every single medical paper published in journals on the topic of vaccines and with all the CDC documentation. She calmly and rationally explains what she has learned over years of research into the science behind the vaccine debate. She goes through each vaccine recommended, gives the history and explains the science involved.
    • What the CDC Documents and Science Reveal 2003 part 2 of 2. This continuation starts with hepatitis B and continues through Chicken Pox.
  • Read Navigating the Information, a post I wrote to help you think through some important questions regarding vaccine safety and science.

2. Establish Boundaries by graciously asking some significant questions to those well-meaning family members. Be prepared to challenge them with an approach something like this next time they bring up the topic of vaccines:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power (Ephesians 6). Lies and delusion are powerful. The battle for truth is a spiritual battle. People might have the best of intentions but are completely deceived by other ‘professionals’ who are themselves completely deceived (Colossians 2). When you have believed lies for decades it can take time to realize the truth. Allow the Spirit of God to guide you into all truth and have confidence in how He does so. God did not give us a spirit that makes us a slave to fear (Romans 8:15; . He wants to bring light and life to every subject. In Jesus are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2). The early disciples were brilliant beyond their education because they had spent time with Jesus. You too can become confident and bold as you prioritize spending time with Jesus and building your faith.

Vaccine wars in families are usually not fun. It can be difficult navigating loving those who care about us and standing strong in the truth we have come to know. I pray these thoughts will be helpful if you are experiencing conflict in your family regarding vaccines. And don’t forget to pray.
